LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency has announced that after the August 31 deadline, strict action has begun against vehicles without green stickers.

According to the Agency’s spokesperson, Sajid Bashir, in the initial phase, vehicles from model years 2010 to 2015 are being issued warning slips, which will be sent to owners via post along with e-challans.

He stated that in case of a second violation, vehicle owners will face fines and legal action.

The spokesperson further said that strict inspections of petrol and diesel vehicle emissions are underway in urban areas. So far, 350,000 vehicles have been issued green stickers. Repeat violators will not only face heavy fines but their vehicles may also be impounded.

It should be noted that green stickers will only be issued to vehicles that pass the emissions test. During the test, the engine, silencer, and catalytic converter are thoroughly checked. During the smog season, vehicles without green stickers will be completely banned from entering Lahore.

Sajid Bashir added that vehicles without green stickers will not be allowed to operate on Lahore’s roads, and very soon a fee will be fixed for obtaining the sticker to make the process more transparent.
