Pakistan gears up for historic moon landing mission with its own satellite

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan’s space agency, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), has announced exciting news that Pakistan will soon send its local satellite to the moon.

A 35-kilogram lunar vehicle is being locally manufactured, and it will take three years to accomplish the mission. SUPARCO’s Deputy Manager Dr. Yasir says that the plan is to land on the moon by 2028 and deploy the lunar vehicle there. Work on its design and development is ongoing.

According to the program, the Pakistani space vehicle will be launched from the Chinese space station in Hunan province and will land on the southern part of the moon. It will be equipped with various sensors capable of observing the moon’s surface and rocks.
