ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared an early forecast about Eidul Fitr.

The department said that there are strong chances that 30 fasts of Ramazan will be completed, making Eid likely on 21 March 2026.

According to the forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the new moon of Shawwal is expected to be born on 19 March 2026. However, visibility chances suggest that the moon may not be easily seen in many areas.

Experts explained that based on astronomical calculations and moon age data, the height and timing of the moon on 29 Ramazan may not be sufficient for clear sighting in some regions. Because of this, there is a high possibility that Ramazan will complete 30 fasts. If that happens, Eid ul Fitr will be observed on Saturday 21 March 2026.

Officials clarified that the final decision will be announced by the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee. The committee reviews scientific data, weather conditions and testimonies from different parts of the country before declaring the official Eid date. The government also issues public holidays based on its decision.

Astronomers said that even with modern technology, the final confirmation of the moon depends on physical sighting, which remains important in Islamic tradition. Each year, the meteorological department gives predictions, but the confirmed date comes after the committee’s meeting and approval.

Citizens are advised not to trust unofficial reports about the moon sighting and wait for the official announcement. The central committee will meet on 29 Ramazan, and after reviewing evidence, it will declare the final date for Eid across the country.

This forecast shows strong chances of 30 fasts this year. People are waiting for the official moon announcement. Even though experts give predictions, the final decision always comes from the moon committee. So everyone should wait for confirmation before planning Eid celebrations.
