(Web Desk): Murree cable car service has been suspended temporarily at Patriata as authorities begin a major safety upgrade.

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has halted the cable car operation to carry out essential maintenance work. Officials say the decision was made to ensure the safety of tourists visiting one of Murree’s most popular attractions.

According to TDCP officials, the existing iron rope of the cable car needs replacement. The suspension will remain in place until the new rope is imported and installed.

Experts from Austria recently inspected the system and recommended replacing the rope after a technical review. Following the recommendation, the tourism department placed an order for a new rope from abroad.

Officials estimate that the replacement process will take around one to one-and-a-half months. The timeline includes both the import of the equipment and its installation.

While the cable car service has been suspended, the chairlift at Patriata continues to operate. Visitors can still enjoy scenic views and travel through the hill station using the chairlift facility.

Tourism authorities have assured visitors that safety remains their highest priority. They say the cable car service will resume immediately after the installation work is completed.

Alongside the maintenance work, authorities have announced several new tourism projects for Murree. These initiatives are aimed at improving facilities and attracting more visitors to the region.

Plans include the launch of a safari train at Kashmir Point and a modern electric cart service. Officials believe these additions will make travel easier and more enjoyable for tourists.

The government is also working on several large-scale projects to modernize Murree’s tourism infrastructure. These projects are expected to enhance the overall visitor experience in the coming years.

Future development plans include a glass walkway bridge and two new chairlifts. Authorities are also considering the establishment of a paragliding club to offer adventure tourism opportunities.

A state-of-the-art tourist resort is also part of the development plan. Officials hope these projects will strengthen Murree’s position as one of Pakistan’s leading tourist destinations.

The temporary suspension may cause inconvenience for some visitors, but the move highlights a strong focus on safety. Replacing critical equipment now could help prevent future operational risks.

The announcement of several new tourism projects suggests that authorities are looking beyond maintenance. If completed successfully, these developments could make Murree a more modern and attractive destination for local and international tourists.
