QUETTA (Web Desk): Train services connecting Quetta with other provinces have been suspended for a day over security concerns, with Jaffar Express operations halted until the situation improves.

Jaffar Express from Quetta will not depart

The Jaffar Express, scheduled to travel from Quetta to Peshawar, will not depart as planned. Railway officials said the service has been halted for the day as authorities monitor the security situation.

The suspension is intended to ensure the safety of passengers, railway staff, and trains amid heightened security concerns. Passengers who had planned to travel from Quetta have been advised to follow further announcements from the railway administration.

The Peshawar-bound train was also affected

The disruption is also affecting the Jaffar Express travelling from Peshawar to Quetta. According to railway sources, the train will be stopped at Jacobabad instead of continuing to Quetta.

Passengers travelling on the route may therefore face delays and changes to their travel plans. Railway authorities are expected to provide updates as the situation develops, and a decision is made on the resumption of services.

Security situation prompts temporary decision

Railway sources said the suspension was ordered because of the prevailing security situation. Authorities are monitoring developments before allowing normal train operations to resume. The temporary measure is aimed at reducing risks to passengers and railway operations.

Officials have not indicated that the suspension will continue beyond the announced one-day period. However, the duration could depend on how the security situation develops.

Passengers advised to stay updated

Passengers have been advised to remain in contact with the railway authorities for information about the status of their trains. People planning to travel from Quetta should check for the latest updates before leaving for the railway stations.

Those already travelling on affected routes may also experience delays because of the temporary changes. Railway authorities are expected to communicate further information once a decision is made regarding the restoration of services.

When will train services resume?

Officials said normal train operations will resume once the security situation improves. The railway administration is monitoring the situation and assessing when it will be safe to restore services.

The temporary suspension means passengers may need to adjust their travel plans until the affected services return to normal. Further announcements are expected as authorities assess the security situation.

Why the suspension matters

The Quetta railway connection is important for passengers travelling between Balochistan and other provinces. A temporary suspension can affect people travelling for work, education, business, and other essential activities.

The Jaffar Express provides a key rail link between Quetta and Peshawar, passing through several cities along the route. Any disruption to the service can therefore affect passengers beyond Quetta itself.
