The Sui Southern Gas Company has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply to industrial consumers, including captive power plants, for 24 hours on Sunday.
According to an official statement, the gas shutdown will begin at 8:00 AM on April 12, 2026, and will continue until 8:00 AM on April 13, 2026. The decision will affect large industrial users across the supply network.
The company said the step has been taken to manage gas load across different sectors and to maintain adequate line-pack pressure within the transmission system. Authorities emphasized that such operational measures are necessary to ensure stability in gas distribution and avoid system imbalance.
During the suspension period, industrial units relying on natural gas and captive power generation may face temporary disruptions. However, domestic consumers are expected to remain unaffected by the shutdown.

Energy sector officials explained that seasonal demand fluctuations and supply management requirements often lead to scheduled curtailments in industrial zones. They added that these measures are part of routine system maintenance and load balancing operations.
SSGC further assured that normal gas supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the 24-hour period, and efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience to industrial users.
The announcement comes at a time when energy management remains a key challenge for the country, with authorities frequently adjusting supply schedules to maintain system efficiency and ensure uninterrupted delivery to essential sectors.
