Punjab Traffic Police warns of strict action against lane line violators
Punjab Traffic Police has decided to strictly enforce lane discipline throughout the province. Senior traffic officials have directed all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) to strengthen enforcement and expand public awareness campaigns to promote safer driving.
Punjab DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir instructed patrolling officers to increase road monitoring and take strict action against motorists who violate lane discipline rules. The crackdown will target drivers using the wrong lane, changing lanes repeatedly without reason, and overtaking without using indicators. Officials said these violations increase the risk of road accidents and disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.
According to the DIG Traffic, more than 627,000 actions have already been taken against lane discipline violations across Punjab this year. Of these, more than 300,000 violations were recorded in Lahore alone.

Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that following lane discipline is essential for improving traffic flow, preventing accidents, and protecting the lives of all road users. He urged drivers to always use indicators before changing lanes or overtaking to alert other motorists.
The DIG Traffic also advised motorcyclists to stay in the left-most lane and strictly follow traffic laws to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of other road users. Traffic police officials said the enforcement campaign will continue across Punjab, while public awareness efforts will also be expanded to encourage responsible driving habits and improve road safety throughout the province.
