South Air expands Pakistan network with three new flight routes
The airline has received approval to operate flights between Peshawar and Quetta and between Peshawar and Lahore. It has also announced an Islamabad-Multan service. The new routes are expected to give passengers more options for domestic air travel and improve connections between major cities.
Peshawar gets new flight connections
The approval of the Peshawar-Quetta and Peshawar-Lahore routes is expected to improve air connectivity for passengers travelling to and from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the development and described the new services as good news for residents, particularly those in Peshawar.
He thanked the Pakistan Aviation Authority for approving the routes and South Air for launching the services following his request. The new connections could provide passengers with an alternative to long road journeys between the cities.
Peshawar-Lahore route draws attention
The new Peshawar-Lahore service will connect two major Pakistani cities by air. The route could be particularly useful for passengers travelling for business, education, tourism and other purposes.
The addition of the service will also give travellers another option as South Air continues to build its domestic network. The airline has said its broader aim is to improve access to air travel for communities that have limited direct flight options.
Peshawar-Quetta service to improve connectivity
South Air will also operate flights between Peshawar and Quetta after receiving the required approval. The new route is expected to strengthen links between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Better air connectivity between the two provinces could make travel more convenient for passengers and support business and tourism. The development is also part of South Air’s wider effort to connect different regions through domestic air services.
Islamabad-Multan service also announced
Along with the two Peshawar routes, South Air has announced an Islamabad-Multan service. The new connection will link the federal capital with one of Punjab’s major cities.

Passengers travelling between Islamabad and Multan will have another domestic flight option once the service becomes operational. The additional route is expected to contribute to the airline’s growing network across Pakistan.
Governor highlights trade and tourism benefits
Kundi said improved air connectivity could support regional trade and tourism. He said easier air travel would provide greater convenience to people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The governor also linked the expansion of flight services with wider economic opportunities for the province. The development could make it easier for visitors to reach different parts of the country while helping businesses maintain stronger links between major cities.
South Air plans flights from Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral
The airline is also planning to expand its operations to Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral. Kundi said South Air had assured him that flights from both airports would begin after the airline inducts new aircraft into its fleet.
The planned services could provide better air access to areas that have fewer direct connections with other parts of Pakistan. South Air has previously announced plans for flights to Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral as part of its expansion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Airline targets underserved regions
South Air says its network is aimed at connecting major hubs with underserved areas across Pakistan. The airline’s focus is on making air travel more accessible and connecting smaller communities with the wider national network.
Its route network includes destinations such as Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Karachi, Sukkur, Bahawalpur and Gwadar. The expansion indicates that the airline is seeking to build a wider domestic network rather than focusing only on the country’s largest aviation hubs.
