The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is currently facing a severe shortage of essential materials, including pipes, taps, and meters, resulting in delays for more than 50,000 gas connections. This shortage has caused significant inconvenience for consumers who had already submitted demand notices.
Following the removal of the gas meter ban, SNGPL received over 350,000 new connection requests. Out of these, approximately 160,000 applicants submitted urgent vouchers worth PKR 25,000. While the company issued demand notices to over 100,000 customers after completing surveys, 60,000 applicants could not receive notices due to the ongoing shortage of materials.

The lack of infrastructure is causing delays despite customers fulfilling all formal requirements, including payment of demand notices and vouchers. SNGPL officials stated that the company is working to procure additional materials to address the backlog, but the process will take time, leaving many households waiting for gas connections.
Consumers are advised to remain patient as SNGPL manages this unprecedented surge in demand and material constraints, which have affected households across Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
