KARACHI (Web Desk): The Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department has issued an emergency alert for fishermen, advising them not to venture into the deep sea on August 1 and 2 due to expected bad weather and rough sea conditions.

PDMA warning prompts immediate action

According to a department spokesperson, the emergency alert was issued after the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned of stormy weather over the Arabian Sea. Officials said the expected weather conditions could make fishing operations dangerous and increase the risk of accidents at sea.

The warning has been shared with all relevant departments to ensure timely action and public safety. Authorities said close coordination is continuing between disaster management agencies and coastal officials.

Fishermen advised to return immediately

The Fisheries Department has instructed fishermen already at sea to return to shore immediately with their boats. Officials said remaining in deep waters during rough weather could put lives at serious risk.

Boat owners and fishing crews have also been advised to avoid taking unnecessary risks until weather conditions stabilise. Authorities have urged fishermen to stay informed through official announcements before resuming fishing activities.

Boats are directed to safer locations

Officials have also instructed vessels anchored in coastal areas to move to safer locations to reduce the risk of damage from strong winds and rough waves. Harbour authorities have been asked to monitor boat movements and provide assistance to fishermen as needed.

Department orders strict safety measures

The Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department has directed its officials to take all necessary measures to protect the lives and property of fishermen. Authorities said emergency response teams are on alert and ready to assist if needed.

Officials have also instructed local fisheries offices to remain in contact with fishing communities and share the latest weather updates. The department said protecting human life remains its top priority during adverse weather conditions.

Warning of action against violators

The department warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who ignores the government’s safety instructions. Officials said the temporary restriction has been introduced to reduce the risk of accidents during the expected spell of bad weather.

Fishermen have also been advised to contact the relevant authorities immediately if they face an emergency or require assistance. Authorities stressed that following official instructions could help prevent avoidable tragedies at sea.
