Safety advisory issued for Islamabad amid monsoon rains
Chief Traffic Officer monitors the situation
According to an ITP official, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kainat Azhar Khan is personally monitoring the traffic situation across the city. Officials said the aim is to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and provide immediate assistance wherever needed during the rainy weather.
Traffic police teams have been deployed at major intersections and busy roads to regulate traffic and assist motorists facing difficulties. Authorities said additional personnel are ready to respond if weather conditions worsen.
Motorists advised to avoid flooded roads
Traffic Police have strongly advised motorists not to drive through heavily waterlogged roads, as doing so could damage vehicles and increase the risk of accidents.
Drivers have also been advised not to stop beneath underpasses or park in areas where rainwater has accumulated, as this could create unnecessary traffic congestion and pose safety risks. Officials urged road users to remain patient and cooperate with traffic wardens to help keep traffic moving smoothly throughout the city.
Drive carefully during rainy weather
The ITP advised motorists to reduce their speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and use indicators while changing lanes. Drivers were also urged to switch on their headlights during periods of low visibility to improve road safety for themselves and other commuters.

Motorcyclists have been advised to exercise extra caution, as wet roads can become slippery and increase the risk of accidents. Officials reminded drivers to avoid sudden braking and sharp turns, which are common causes of road accidents during rainfall.

Traffic officers have been deployed at key roads, intersections and other busy locations across Islamabad to regulate traffic and assist commuters. Officials said timely information can help commuters choose safer routes and avoid unnecessary delays during adverse weather conditions.
Rainfall increases road safety risks
Heavy rainfall often creates challenging driving conditions by reducing visibility and making roads slippery. Waterlogged roads can also hide potholes and other hazards, increasing the risk of vehicle damage and traffic accidents.
