RAWALPINDI (Web Desk): Govt has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Murree 30 days, with public gatherings banned over security concerns.

Restrictions to remain until November 8

The district administrations issued separate notifications on October 10, announcing that the restrictions would remain in place until November 8, 2026.

The Rawalpindi security restrictions and Murree security alert come as authorities take steps to maintain law and order and protect sensitive locations. The orders warn that violations could lead to legal action.

In Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Captain (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir issued the notification imposing Section 144 across the district for one month.

Under the order, public gatherings banned measures cover groups of five or more people, public meetings, political rallies, processions, sit-ins and protest demonstrations.

What is banned in Rawalpindi?

The Section 144 Rawalpindi order also prohibits carrying weapons, batons and petrol bombs. Pillion riding on motorcycles and the use of loudspeakers are also banned.

Officials said the Rawalpindi security restrictions were introduced because of security concerns across the district. Residents and political groups must follow the instructions during the restriction period.

The public gatherings banned order may affect people planning meetings, demonstrations or other public events.

Murree announces separate security measures

In Murree, Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi issued a separate notification after receiving a report from the District Intelligence Committee and reviewing security concerns.

The Section 144 Murree order prohibits gatherings of five or more people, public meetings, rallies, processions and sit-ins throughout the district.

The administration has also banned displaying weapons, aerial firing and hate speech. Drone cameras and pillion riding on motorcycles are also prohibited.

The Murree security alert reflects concerns about protecting sensitive installations, major highways and public property. Officials said necessary measures had been taken to safeguard public infrastructure and maintain law and order.

Strict action against violations

Both administrations have warned that anyone violating Section 144 will face legal action under the law.

The Rawalpindi security restrictions and Murree security alert will remain effective until November 8, 2026, unless authorities announce a change.

The public gatherings banned measures mean residents should check the rules before arranging events or travelling with passengers on motorcycles.
