Schools and colleges reopen across Sindh after summer break
Government and private schools and colleges across Sindh reopened after the end of the two-month summer vacation, bringing students and teachers back to classrooms across the province. Regular academic activities resumed as educational institutions welcomed students on the first day of the new term.
Officials said the reopening marks the beginning of the new academic schedule after the summer holidays. Many schools organised welcome activities to help students settle back into their classrooms.
The six-day academic week comes into effect
The Sindh Education Department has officially withdrawn the weekly Saturday holiday from August 1. Under the revised schedule, all government and private educational institutions will now operate six days a week.
Officials said the updated school timings also came into effect on the first day of the new academic session. The revised timetable is aimed at ensuring smooth academic progress throughout the current session.
Student attendance remains low on opening day
Attendance remained lower than usual on the first day after the summer break at both government and private educational institutions. Officials said many families may need additional time to adjust to the reopening schedule after the holidays.
Some private schools also decided to begin regular classes on August 3 instead of the reopening day. Education officials expect attendance to improve gradually over the coming days.
Students receive a warm welcome
Schools welcomed students with a variety of engaging activities to make their return to classrooms more enjoyable. Teachers organised interactive and science-based learning sessions to create a positive and encouraging environment for students.

Morning traffic returns to normal
The reopening of educational institutions also led to the return of routine morning traffic across Karachi. School vans, buses, and private vehicles carrying students were seen on major roads during the morning rush.
Traffic officials monitored the flow of vehicles near schools to help reduce congestion. Authorities advised motorists to drive carefully in school zones and follow traffic regulations.
Summer vacation lasted two months
The Sindh Education Department had announced summer vacations for educational institutions from June 1 to July 31. Schools and colleges remained closed during the hottest weeks of the season before reopening under the revised academic calendar.
