Saudi Arabia assures Pakistan of worker visa processing within 24 hours
The assurance was given by Saudi Ambassador Dr Rajeh bin Thamer Al-Baqmi during a meeting with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Both sides discussed ways to improve employment opportunities and resolve problems faced by Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia promises faster visa processing
During the meeting, the Saudi ambassador assured Pakistan that his country would provide all possible support to Pakistani workers. He said Saudi Arabia would cooperate in facilitating their visa processing within 24 hours.
The ambassador also promised continued assistance in resolving issues faced by Pakistani citizens living and working in the Kingdom. The move is expected to make the recruitment process easier for Pakistani job seekers.
More employment opportunities for Pakistani workers
Chaudhry Salik Hussain stressed the need to create more job opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia. He said Pakistan should prepare its workforce through proper training programmes to meet the changing needs of the Saudi job market.
The minister also highlighted the importance of sharing information about available jobs and required skills. He said timely coordination between the two countries would help Pakistani workers meet the requirements of Saudi employers.
Joint working group to address workers’ issues
Both countries agreed to establish a joint working group to improve cooperation on employment and workforce development. The group will work to address workers’ concerns and strengthen coordination between the relevant institutions.
The agreement is aimed at improving the recruitment process and ensuring better facilities for Pakistani workers. It will also help both countries identify new areas of cooperation in human resource development.
Saudi ambassador praises Pakistani people
During the meeting, the Saudi ambassador praised the courage and selflessness of the Pakistani people. He particularly recalled an incident from 2009 when a Pakistani citizen risked his life to save 14 Saudi nationals.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relations with Saudi Arabia. He said cooperation between the two countries would continue for the benefit of their people.
Saudi Arabia remains one of the major destinations for Pakistani workers seeking employment abroad. The latest development reflects both countries’ efforts to expand job opportunities and improve facilities for Pakistani expatriates.
The assurance of visa processing within 24 hours could make it easier for Pakistani workers to find jobs in Saudi Arabia. However, faster visas alone are not enough to solve all employment challenges.
Pakistan also needs to train workers according to Saudi employers’ requirements. The proposed joint working group could help improve coordination, protect workers’ interests and create more employment opportunities.
