Safe Muharram app launched for first time to boost security – How it works
The federal capital has introduced a special mobile application called Safe Muharram to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. Officials say the initiative aims to improve coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
Through the new app, citizens will be able to report suspicious individuals and unusual activities. Users can also inform authorities about any gaps or concerns related to security arrangements.
A high-level meeting to review Muharram security measures was chaired by the federal interior minister. Officials discussed plans to ensure peaceful processions and religious gatherings across Islamabad.
The interior minister directed authorities to enforce strict checking at entry and exit points of processions and gatherings. He also instructed officers to remain present in the field throughout Muharram.

The minister ordered officials to ensure timely provision of food, water and other essential facilities for security personnel. He said effective coordination is necessary to maintain law and order.
During the meeting, officials stressed the importance of close coordination with religious scholars. They also called for strict implementation of the agreed code of conduct.
Authorities announced a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech and provocative content. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in activities that threaten peace.
The chief commissioner and inspector general of Islamabad Police informed the meeting that security audits of all processions and gatherings had been completed. Peace and monitoring committees have also been activated.
Officials said the administration remains in constant contact with religious scholars and organisers of processions and gatherings. Coordination efforts are being strengthened to avoid any security concerns.
According to authorities, all Imambargahs, gathering venues and procession routes have been geo-tagged. Advanced technology will be used to improve monitoring and emergency response.
Officials said drones will be deployed for digital surveillance during Muharram. The system will also support live location tracking and photo sharing to ensure rapid action during emergencies.
The launch of the Safe Muharram app shows a growing focus on using technology for public safety. Direct communication between citizens and authorities could help improve response times.
Digital monitoring and stronger coordination may help prevent security incidents during Muharram. However, the success of these measures will depend on effective implementation and public cooperation.
