LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab opens bank accounts for 1.2 million workers under the ration card program, transferring Rs22 billion and starting a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000.

The Punjab government has taken a major step to support workers by opening bank accounts for 1.2 million registered labourers under the ration card program.

Officials confirmed that a total of Rs22 billion has already been transferred into these accounts. This move is part of a broader plan to provide direct financial assistance to workers across the province.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources, Muhammad Manasha Allah Butt, said the account-opening process was completed quickly and efficiently. The Social Security Department played a key role in making this possible.

He explained that workers are now receiving financial assistance through the ration card system. Under this program, each registered worker will receive Rs3,000 every month directly into their bank account.
