(Web Desk): Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts Ramadan 1447 hijri moon sighting on February 18, marking the start of Ramadan on February 19.

Ramadan 1447 hijri expected to begin on february 19 as crescent moon sighting likely in Pakistan and other countries on february 18.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the crescent moon for Ramadan 1447 hijri is likely to be sighted on February 18, 2026. According to PMD, the moon will be born on February 17 at 5:01 pm Pakistan Standard Time, making the 29th of Shaban 1447 hijri favorable for moon sighting.

Experts said weather conditions in most parts of Pakistan on February 18 are expected to be partly cloudy or clear, increasing the chances of observing the Ramadan moon. PMD has also released the last timings for moon sighting across different regions: 6:58 pm in Azad Kashmir, 7:47 pm in Balochistan, 7:24 pm in Sindh, 7:13 pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7:08 pm in Punjab, and 6:53 pm in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Astronomical specialists noted that the new moon will be born on February 17, 2026, but it will not be visible anywhere in the world that day. However, on February 18, the moon is expected to be clearly visible in Pakistan and other countries, including Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Makkah.

If the crescent is sighted on February 18, the first day of Ramadan 1447 hijri will likely fall on February 19, 2026, in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Authorities and the public are advised to follow official announcements for confirmation.
