Punjab’s ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ Program Completes Over 105,000 Homes
Punjab’s flagship ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing initiative has achieved another major milestone, with more than 105,000 homes completed and over 166,000 interest-free loans disbursed to low-income families across the province.
According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department, a total of 105,594 houses have been completed under the program. Construction work is currently underway on 28,453 homes, while the building of another 32,048 houses is expected to begin soon.
The government has so far provided more than Rs215.76 billion in interest-free financing to support home construction. The initiative has received an overwhelming response, with over 1.2 million applications submitted by individuals seeking financial assistance to build their own homes.
Officials also revealed that loan repayments have exceeded Rs14.5 billion, reflecting a positive repayment trend among beneficiaries and supporting the long-term sustainability of the program.

The ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ scheme aims to improve access to affordable housing by offering interest-free financing to low-income households in both urban and rural areas of Punjab. The Punjab government has described the program as a key component of its housing and social welfare agenda, emphasizing its commitment to providing dignified and affordable housing opportunities. Authorities expect the scheme to continue expanding in the coming months as more homes enter the construction phase and additional eligible applicants receive financial assistance.
