Punjab launches EV buses in Murree to promote cleaner tourism
The Punjab government has officially rolled out Punjab EV buses in Murree under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The project aims to modernize public transport while encouraging environmentally friendly travel in one of Pakistan’s most visited tourist destinations.
According to the district administration, the newly launched Murree electric buses will operate on major routes across the hill station.
Officials say the service will make travel more convenient for local residents and the thousands of tourists who visit Murree throughout the year.
The Murree electric buses have also been integrated into the transport network connecting Rawalpindi and Murree.
This is expected to improve accessibility, reduce travel difficulties, and provide a more reliable public transport option during the busy tourist season.
Officials said the introduction of Punjab electric buses is designed to offer affordable, safe, and dependable transportation while reducing harmful vehicle emissions.
The government believes electric mobility will help improve air quality in Murree, where traffic congestion and pollution usually increase during holidays.
The launch of Punjab electric buses is part of the provincial government's broader strategy to modernize the transport sector and encourage clean energy solutions.
By replacing conventional vehicles with electric ones, Punjab hopes to protect Murree’s natural beauty and reduce its environmental impact.
Authorities added that if the project performs well, more Punjab EV buses could be introduced in other districts and tourist destinations across the province.

Officials believe the initiative will encourage more people to use public transport instead of private vehicles.
The provincial government says investing in Punjab electric buses will not only improve passenger comfort but also support long-term environmental protection and sustainable tourism across Punjab.
