The Punjab government has approved a major restructuring of the Punjab Film Censor Board, replacing several key members to improve efficiency and strengthen film regulation across the province.
According to official sources, actress Resham and actor Sarmad Sultan Khoosat have been removed from the board. Authorities cited their absence from important meetings and professional commitments as the main reasons behind the decision.
To fill the vacant positions, the government has appointed writer and filmmaker Khalid Ali Butt and director Rauf Khalid as new members. Officials believe the newly appointed members will bring fresh expertise and contribute to improving the board’s performance.
The changes were recommended by the board chairman after reviewing attendance records and member participation. The proposal was later approved by the provincial cabinet under the direction of the chief minister as part of broader efforts to reform government institutions.

The revamped board is expected to introduce more efficient procedures, improve transparency, and ensure films are reviewed and certified in a timely manner, supporting the development of Punjab’s film industry.
