(Web Desk): Punjab government removes motorcycle transfer and registration fees for one month to ease burden on citizens.

The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has announced a major relief for motorcycle owners, waiving multiple fees to facilitate citizens across the province.

According to an official notification issued on April 6, 2026, the government has completely abolished the motorcycle transfer fee of Rs 605, additional registration mark fee of Rs 1000, and smart card fee of Rs 1300. This decision applies to motorcycles and scooters up to 150cc.

The exemption will remain in effect for a limited period of one month, starting from April 6, 2026, and ending on May 5, 2026. During this time, citizens can transfer ownership and complete registration-related processes without paying the usual charges.

Officials stated that the initiative aims to provide financial relief and encourage people to complete pending transfers and registrations. Many citizens often delay these processes due to costs, leading to legal and documentation issues.

The department has urged motorcycle owners to take full advantage of this opportunity and ensure their vehicle documents are updated within the given timeframe.
