Punjab plans new uniform for Traffic Police

Punjab Police have decided to introduce a new uniform for Lahore’s traffic police, replacing the current design less than a year after it was introduced. According to police sources, traffic wardens will no longer wear the existing white shirt and blue trousers. Instead, they will be issued a new bluish-grey uniform.

The decision marks another revision to the traffic police dress code, following last year’s uniform change. The current uniform was introduced during the tenure of former Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed. At the time, each traffic warden received Rs5,000 to purchase the revised uniform.

Police sources said the proposal was discussed during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Inspector General of Logistics and Procurement. Senior officials from the Logistics, Resource Management and Punjab Highway Patrol departments also attended the meeting to review the proposed changes.

Under the new arrangement, the Punjab Highway Patrol will continue wearing its existing uniform. However, its officers and personnel will be issued a standardised uniform. Punjab Police have not yet announced when the new uniform will be introduced or when traffic wardens will begin wearing it.
