NADRA launches free iris scan service across Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a free iris scan service at all registration centres across Pakistan to strengthen the security of citizens’ identity information.

The new service is designed to provide an additional layer of biometric protection by using the unique patterns of a person’s iris to verify their identity more accurately. According to NADRA, the iris scan service is now available free of charge at all its registration centres, allowing citizens to further protect their biometric records.

The authority said the technology improves the accuracy and reliability of identity verification while making the country’s biometric system more secure. NADRA has urged all citizens to visit their nearest registration centre and take advantage of the free service.

Parents have also been advised to bring children aged three years and above so that their biometric records can be updated through iris scanning. The authority said the initiative is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s identity verification system and reducing the risk of identity fraud.

Officials added that the wider use of iris scanning will help make future identity verification faster, safer and more efficient for citizens across the country. NADRA has encouraged the public to use the free facility at the earliest opportunity to ensure their biometric information remains secure and up to date.
