Punjab launches green bus service in Gujrat
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the project from Lahore during a special ceremony. The new service is part of a wider transport initiative that is being introduced in seven districts across Punjab.
Officials say the project aims to make daily travel easier, safer, and more comfortable for thousands of commuters.
First phase starts with 11 buses
Under the first phase, the Gujrat Green Bus Service has been provided with 11 modern buses.
These buses will initially operate on two different routes across the city. Authorities say the selected routes have been chosen to serve areas where people rely heavily on public transportation.
The government expects the new buses to reduce travel difficulties for office workers, students, senior citizens, and families who use public transport every day.
Better transport for daily commuters
Officials believe the project will improve the quality of urban transport while reducing waiting times for passengers.
The buses are expected to provide cleaner, more reliable, and more organised travel than traditional transport options.

The Green Bus Service is also expected to help reduce traffic congestion by encouraging more people to use public transportation instead of private vehicles.
Passengers will have access to a safer travel environment, while improved scheduling is expected to make daily commuting more convenient.
Gujrat joins Punjab’s transport expansion
The Gujrat Green Bus Service is part of the Punjab government’s larger plan to expand modern transport services beyond major cities.
Officials say additional districts will continue receiving improved transport facilities under future phases of the programme.
The government believes expanding public transport will improve mobility, support economic activity, and make travelling easier for people living in urban areas.
Authorities have indicated that more buses and additional routes could be introduced later depending on passenger demand and operational performance.

More improvements expected
Transport officials say they will continue monitoring passenger numbers and service quality after the launch.
If demand increases, more buses may be added to improve coverage across Gujrat and nearby areas.
The project reflects the government's effort to modernise public transport while providing affordable travel options for citizens throughout Punjab.
