Train service between Lahore and Faisalabad suspended

Train service between Lahore and Faisalabad has been suspended after floodwaters severely damaged a railway bridge near Missan Kalar, disrupting rail operations and affecting several passenger trains.

According to railway officials, a strong flood surge struck the area overnight, causing 30 of the bridge’s 110 pillars to collapse on the Sheikhupura-Lahore railway section. Following the damage, train services on the affected route have been suspended, while authorities have begun repair work to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Officials said trains travelling from Lahore to Karachi via Sheikhupura and Faisalabad are being diverted through Sahiwal to minimise disruption for passengers. The Badr Express and Ghouri Express have been cancelled due to damage to the railway bridge.

Meanwhile, the Shalimar Express and Karakoram Express will operate via Raiwind and Sahiwal instead of their usual route. The Mianwali Express, which normally operates between Lahore and Mianwali, has also been diverted through Lala Musa.

Railway authorities said several other trains operating on the affected section have either been cancelled or diverted to alternative routes to minimise inconvenience for passengers. Repair teams are working on the damaged bridge, and officials said every effort is being made to restore the railway track and resume normal train operations at the earliest.
