Punjab issues guidelines for Eid ul Adha 2026 - Illegal cattle markets allowed?
According to an official communication from the Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department, authorities have been instructed to activate cattle markets at least 10 days before Eid. The move aims to ensure smooth buying and selling of sacrificial animals while maintaining proper regulation and public convenience.
The notification clearly states that all cattle sale points and markets must be established only at officially notified locations. Strict action has been ordered against illegal cattle markets and roadside animal sales, which often create traffic issues and hygiene concerns.
In addition, the government has announced that all leaves of local government employees across Punjab will remain cancelled during Eid ul Adha. Staff will be on duty to ensure effective implementation of arrangements, particularly in sanitation and public services.

Waste management companies, along with the Suthra Punjab Authority, have been directed to remain active round the clock during the Eid days. A special cleanliness operation will be carried out to manage animal waste and maintain hygiene standards in cities.
Officials say these steps are aimed at improving organization, ensuring public safety, and maintaining cleanliness during one of the largest religious festivals in the province.
