Punjab govt distributes first batch of Minority Card in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): The Punjab government has started distributing Minority Card to deserving families in the city, providing financial assistance to help minority communities manage essential expenses.

The Punjab Minority Card scheme has been launched under the initiative of Maryam Nawaz minority support program aimed at helping poor non-Muslim families.

The Rawalpindi Minority Card distribution ceremony marked the beginning of the relief initiative for hundreds of households.

The event took place at a women’s college in Rawalpindi where Tahira Aurangzeb attended as the chief guest and distributed Minority Card among eligible people.

Officials said the Punjab Minority Card scheme is being implemented in two phases to ensure that more families can benefit from the initiative.

The program is part of the broader Maryam Nawaz minority support efforts to improve the welfare of minority communities.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema stated that 850 cards have already been distributed in the first phase of the Rawalpindi Minority Card distribution process.

He added that around 994 additional families will receive Minority Card in the second phase, allowing a large number of households to benefit from the Punjab Minority Card scheme.

Under this program, eligible families will receive Rs10,500 every three months. The financial assistance is a key part of the Maryam Nawaz minority support initiative aimed at helping families meet basic needs such as food, education and utility bills.

Authorities said the payments will be made through digital cards or bank transfers as part of the Rawalpindi Minority Card distribution process to ensure transparency and easy access for beneficiaries.
