Punjab cracks down on illegal private schools, seals 324 in Lahore
The Punjab government has intensified its crackdown on illegal private schools in Lahore, sealing hundreds of unregistered institutions while speeding up a comprehensive survey of all private schools across the city.
The Lahore Education Authority has deployed additional teachers to assist with the survey after delays slowed the registration process. Officials hope the expanded team will help complete the remaining work by the end of this week.
According to the authority, Lahore has more than 14,000 private schools. However, only around 6,000 institutions have completed the online survey so far, prompting officials to expand the survey teams and speed up the process.

During the ongoing inspection campaign, officials identified 324 private schools operating without registration. The schools were sealed immediately as part of the government’s crackdown on unregistered educational institutions.
The Lahore Education Authority said strict action would continue against schools operating illegally and urged owners to complete the registration process without delay.
Officials added that the online survey of all private schools is still underway and is expected to be completed later this week. The survey aims to ensure that all private schools comply with government regulations and provide quality education in a safe and properly regulated environment.
