Punjab announces jobs for SheThreads graduates
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said 1,150 women had already completed training and secured jobs through the initiative. The programme aims to increase Punjab women jobs and support rural women employment.
SheThreads programme offers training and jobs
Under the SheThreads programme, women are receiving practical training in industrial sewing and apparel supervision. After successfully completing the course, participants will be offered jobs in the textile industry.
Registration for the programme has already started. Each participant will receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 during the three-month training period.
Maryam Nawaz said the initiative would help women from rural areas learn useful skills and become financially independent. The government hopes the programme will connect more trained women with stable employment.
The target of training 2,500 women by June is expected to expand the initiative and create further opportunities for rural women employment.
Women receive training to drive rickshaws
Along with textile skills, Maryam Nawaz has also directed authorities to create more employment opportunities for women in the transport sector.
Women are now being trained to drive rickshaws. The initiative was expanded after earlier driving training programmes for taxis and scooties.
Punjab Traffic Police recently organised a rickshaw driving training session in collaboration with a private university.
A total of 34 women took part in the training at driving schools in Bahria Town and Manawa. The programme aims to provide practical skills that can help women earn their own income.

The initiative gives women a chance to enter fields where they have traditionally had fewer opportunities. It also supports the wider goal of increasing Punjab women jobs through practical training.
The expansion from taxi and scooty training to rickshaw driving shows that authorities are including more transport-related skills in their efforts.
More opportunities for women in Punjab
The SheThreads programme and driving training initiative are part of wider efforts to improve women's access to skills and employment.
While the textile programme focuses on industrial work, the driving initiative offers another career option. Maryam Nawaz has emphasised the importance of helping women become self-reliant through such opportunities.
The government aims to expand rural women employment by providing training linked to practical work opportunities.
