Public holiday announced on July 27
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government approved the holiday following a request from the Election Commission of AJK to facilitate the electoral process in the division.
The Services and General Administration Department issued an official notification confirming that the public holiday will be observed only in Mirpur Division.
According to the notification, the holiday has been declared to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of polling during the first phase of the Legislative Assembly elections.
The first phase of polling for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections is scheduled to take place in Mirpur Division on July 27.

Earlier, the Election Commission of AJK had formally requested the government to declare a public holiday on polling day to enable voters, election staff and government departments to participate in the electoral process without disruption.
The decision is expected to encourage greater voter turnout and help authorities manage polling arrangements more efficiently across the division.
