The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has directed all registered medical and dental practitioners with inactive registrations or licenses to validate and renew their credentials within six months of the publication of its latest notice.

The directive has been issued under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Act, 2022, and relevant regulations governing the registration and licensing of medical and dental practitioners in Pakistan.

The council advised affected doctors to complete the renewal process within the prescribed six-month period to remain compliant with regulatory requirements and avoid possible action against their registration status.

In a significant warning, PM&DC said doctors who fail to renew their registration for a continuous period of more than 10 years will have their names permanently removed from the council’s register.

The council urged all medical and dental practitioners whose registrations or licenses have become inactive to take timely action rather than wait until the deadline approaches.

According to PM&DC, the renewal requirement is intended to keep official registration records updated and ensure that practitioners remain compliant with the council’s regulatory framework.

The directive applies to registered medical and dental practitioners whose credentials fall within the inactive category specified by the council. Doctors have therefore been advised to review their registration status and complete the required formalities within the announced timeframe.

The move is also aimed at strengthening the accuracy of the national register of medical and dental practitioners and improving regulatory oversight of the healthcare professions.

PM&DC stressed that failure to comply with the requirements could result in regulatory consequences, particularly for practitioners whose registrations remain inactive for extended periods.
