(Web Desk): Punjab has started petrol subsidy payments for motorcycle owners as verified applicants start receiving funds.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari confirmed that payments have started for approved applicants. She said only those who completed registration and verification are receiving the subsidy. The petrol subsidy payments aim to support motorcycle owners with fuel costs.

The government has extended the registration deadline by one month to help more people apply. During this period, the registration fee has also been waived for public convenience.

She urged people who have not yet applied to complete their registration soon. She added that all groups, including persons with disabilities, are included in the scheme.

The minister said the government has ensured a steady supply of petroleum products. However, she explained that some pricing factors are beyond the provincial government’s control.

She also pointed out that past governments did not build enough capacity in the energy sector. She said the current government is now reviewing and addressing these issues.

Talking about transport, she shared plans to expand public services across Punjab. Around 100 new buses will arrive by the end of April, followed by 400 more by the end of May.

These buses will support green transport initiatives in different cities. The move is expected to improve travel facilities and reduce environmental impact.

This step can reduce fuel expenses for daily riders. If more people register, the impact could become much bigger.
