Petrol prices may see sharp decline in Pakistan, expected drop revealed

Sources say petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan may decrease by more than Rs40 per litre. This expectation comes after a strong drop in international crude oil rates.

However, officials from the petroleum division say no final working paper has been prepared yet. They confirm that discussions are still ongoing on different proposals.

According to sources, a final decision on weekly fuel price changes has not been taken yet. The government is reviewing options and wants to pass the benefit directly to the public.

Petroleum division officials also said that multiple proposals are under review before Friday. The final decision will follow the official pricing formula and will be announced after completion of the process.

Government sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may personally announce the fuel price changes. This has increased public expectations across the country.

In the global market, crude oil prices have fallen by more than 7 percent. US crude is trading at around 76 dollars per barrel, while Brent crude is near 81 dollars per barrel.
