Web Desk: Pakistan has seen another increase in petrol and diesel prices, adding to the pressure on consumers and transport costs.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a notification for the revised petroleum prices. The new rates will take effect from midnight.

According to the notification, petrol has become more expensive by 39 paisas per litre. The price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs2.40 per litre.

After the latest increase, petrol will now cost Rs341.98 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel has reached Rs370.69 per litre.

New petrol and diesel rates announced

The latest change means motorists will have to pay more for fuel from the start of the new pricing period. The increase may also affect transport costs because diesel is widely used by buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles.

The decision comes after another recent increase in petroleum prices. Repeated changes in fuel rates can put additional pressure on household budgets, especially for people who rely on private transport for work and daily travel.

The government reviews petroleum prices regularly based on factors including international oil prices and other costs linked to fuel imports and distribution.

Higher diesel price may raise transport costs

The increase in diesel prices could have a wider impact because diesel is heavily used in the transport and goods delivery sectors.

If transportation companies face higher fuel expenses, the additional cost can eventually affect fares and the prices of goods moved across the country.

For ordinary motorists, even a small increase in petrol prices can add to monthly travel expenses. This is particularly important for people who use their vehicles every day.

The latest decision therefore comes at a time when consumers are closely watching fuel prices and their impact on everyday expenses.

What the latest increase means

The new petrol and diesel rates will remain important for businesses and consumers because fuel prices have a direct connection with transportation and distribution costs.

The increase in petrol is relatively small compared with diesel, but both changes add to the overall cost of fuel.

For now, motorists will have to adjust to the revised rates as the new prices come into effect.
