Peshawar (Web Desk): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has purchased 52 new buses to expand the fleet of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

25 new buses arrive at Karachi Port

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has purchased 52 new buses to expand the fleet of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

Of the 52 buses purchased for the BRT system, 25 have arrived at Karachi Port after being transported from China. Their arrival marks the first step towards bringing the new buses into Pakistan.

The buses will undergo the necessary procedures before being moved to Peshawar for inclusion in the BRT fleet. The remaining buses are also on their way to Pakistan.

Remaining 27 buses dispatched from China

The remaining 27 buses have been dispatched from China and are expected to arrive in Pakistan. Once all 52 buses reach the country, authorities will work to add them to the BRT system.

The arrival of the full fleet will allow the government to move ahead with its plan to increase the number of buses operating on the network. The expansion is expected to provide greater passenger capacity across the BRT system.

Peshawar BRT fleet to reach 296 buses

The Peshawar BRT system currently has 244 buses operating across its network. With the addition of the 52 new buses, the total fleet will increase to 296 buses.

The increase represents a significant expansion of the system’s existing bus capacity. More buses could also give operators greater flexibility in managing services and passenger demand.

More capacity for BRT commuters

The new buses are expected to increase the number of passengers the BRT system can accommodate. A larger fleet can help operators manage busy routes and periods when passenger demand is higher.

The additional vehicles could also provide greater operational flexibility if some buses require maintenance or are temporarily unavailable. For commuters, the expansion is expected to strengthen the availability of BRT services across Peshawar.

Government focuses on public transport

The purchase of the new buses reflects the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s focus on expanding public transport facilities. The Peshawar BRT has become an important part of the city’s public transport network, connecting commuters to different areas through dedicated routes.

Expanding the fleet can help the system respond to growing demand as more people rely on public transport for their daily journeys. The new buses are therefore expected to support the continued operation and expansion of the BRT service.

New buses could improve commuter experience

An expanded fleet can help reduce pressure on existing buses, particularly during peak travel hours. More vehicles also give transport authorities additional options when planning routes and managing passenger traffic.

The impact on commuters will depend on how quickly the new buses are brought into regular service and how they are deployed across the network. Authorities will need to ensure that the additional buses are properly integrated into existing BRT operations.
