PESCO announces major salary and allowance increases for staff
Salary changes approved
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved several changes to employee salaries and allowances, providing financial relief to its staff.
The company has also approved an ad-hoc relief allowance that will apply from July 1, 2026.
According to a PESCO notification, the disparity reduction allowance for employees has been fixed at 15%.
The allowance will be calculated based on the basic salaries employees were receiving on June 30, 2022.
The notification said the terms and conditions set by the federal government will apply to this allowance.
Higher allowance for employees with disabilities
PESCO has also increased the special convenience allowance for employees with disabilities.
The allowance has been raised from Rs6,000 to Rs10,000.
This means eligible employees will receive an additional Rs4,000 under the revised allowance.
The company has also increased the standard convenience allowance for its employees by 50%.
The move is expected to provide additional financial support to staff members receiving the allowance.

Pension increase for retired employees
The new decisions are not limited to serving employees.
PESCO has also announced a pension increase for its retired staff.
According to the company’s decision, pensions will be increased by 7% with effect from July 1.
The increase is aimed at providing additional financial support to retired employees as living expenses continue to put pressure on household budgets.
Changes to take effect from July
PESCO has directed that all newly approved decisions should be implemented from July 1, 2026.
This means eligible employees and retired staff will receive the benefits according to the revised rules from the specified date.
The latest announcement covers basic salaries, different allowances and pensions, making it a significant financial update for both serving and retired PESCO employees.
What the decision means for staff
For current employees, the revised allowances could provide some additional financial support along with the approved relief allowance.
Employees with disabilities will receive a higher special convenience allowance, while other eligible staff will benefit from the 50% increase in the standard convenience allowance.
Retired employees will also receive a 7% pension increase.
