The Government of Pakistan has issued a notification to maintain the current prices of petroleum products across the country, officials said on Friday.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the price of petrol will remain at Rs321.17 per liter, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will continue to be sold at Rs335.86 per liter.
The decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to balance domestic economic stability with international oil market fluctuations. Authorities noted that global crude oil prices have been volatile, and maintaining fuel prices at current levels would help ease inflationary pressures on consumers.
Officials emphasized that the move is intended to protect ordinary citizens from sudden increases in fuel costs, which can have a cascading effect on transport, commodities, and overall cost of living.

The Petroleum Division stated that the decision takes into account both the current trends in international oil markets and the prevailing economic conditions within the country.
The notification also reflects the government’s ongoing strategy to manage energy prices without putting additional strain on households or businesses. Analysts say keeping fuel prices stable is crucial to maintain inflation rates and support economic recovery amid global uncertainties.
The government has assured the public that it will continue to monitor international oil prices and domestic economic conditions closely and take measures as needed to safeguard both energy supply and affordability.
