(Web Desk): Pakistan says its defence system destroyed several drones launched from Afghanistan, accusing Afghan Taliban of targeting civilians.

Pakistan’s military has claimed that several drones launched from Afghanistan were intercepted and destroyed by the country’s air defence system earlier this month.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations, the drone attacks occurred on March 3 and were allegedly carried out by the Afghan Taliban.

The military’s media wing said Pakistan’s defence system detected the drones in time and successfully shot them down before they could reach their intended targets.

Officials stated that none of the drones managed to strike their objectives, preventing potentially serious damage.

However, debris from one of the destroyed drones reportedly fell in Quetta, injuring two children. In separate incidents, one civilian each was injured in Kohat and Rawalpindi.

The military said the attacks appeared to be aimed at spreading fear among civilians. It accused Afghan Taliban-linked elements of using proxy networks and drones to target non-combatants.

According to ISPR, such actions reflect what it described as the “terrorist mindset” of those involved in the attacks.

The statement also said that while Afghan Taliban authorities attempt to portray themselves as victims internationally, they are allegedly supporting proxy networks responsible for cross-border attacks.

Pakistan’s military reaffirmed that Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, launched to counter cross-border terrorism, will continue.

The armed forces said they remain determined to eliminate militant threats and will not bow to provocations, adding that operations will continue until terrorism originating from Afghan territory is completely eradicated.
