Six militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.
Officials said the operation was conducted in the Shagai area within the jurisdiction of Gambela Police Station, where CTD teams acted on credible intelligence about the presence of militants.
According to authorities, the CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team launched the raid to target suspected militants hiding in the area. As the security personnel moved in, the militants opened fire after spotting the team.
CTD officials said the personnel responded in self-defence, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire that continued for nearly 40 minutes. After the firing stopped, security forces carried out a search operation in the area and found six militants dead.
Initial reports suggest that efforts are currently under way to identify the militants. Officials said further action would be taken against their facilitators and other accomplices once the identification process is completed.
