Pakistan cuts kerosene price by Rs48 per litre in major fuel relief
The federal government has announced a major reduction in kerosene oil prices, providing further relief to consumers following recent cuts in petrol and high-speed diesel rates.
According to an official notification, the price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs48.29 per litre with immediate effect.
Following the latest revision, the new price of kerosene has been fixed at Rs233.90 per litre, down from the previous rate of Rs282.19 per litre.
The revised prices came into effect from today and are expected to ease financial pressure on households and businesses that rely on kerosene for cooking, heating and other daily needs, particularly in remote and mountainous areas where access to natural gas remains limited.
The reduction in kerosene prices follows the government's recent decision to significantly lower petrol and diesel rates amid fluctuations in global oil markets.
Earlier, authorities announced a cut of Rs74 per litre in petrol prices, while the price of high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs67 per litre.
Energy analysts believe the latest reductions could help lower transportation and operating costs across several sectors, while also contributing to a decline in inflationary pressures.
The government reviews petroleum product prices periodically based on changes in international oil prices and the exchange rate.
Consumers are expected to benefit immediately from the revised fuel prices, which mark one of the largest reductions in recent months.
