Pakistan approves major shift to e passports to modernize immigration system
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting at the Passport and Immigration Headquarters, where reforms were reviewed to improve efficiency and security.
Officials said the move will make travel documents safer and reduce forgery cases across the country. Under the new plan, the passport system will become more digital and user-friendly.
The Pakistan e passport system is expected to replace older methods and introduce faster processing for citizens.
Authorities also confirmed that passport reforms Pakistan are being expanded to improve overall service delivery and reduce delays.
The Immigration Department Pakistan has also completed preparations for passport home delivery services both inside the country and abroad.

This step will allow applicants to receive passports at their doorstep without visiting offices. In addition, the Pak Identity platform passport system will be used for online applications, making the process fully digital and easier to access.
From July 1, a cashless payment system will also be introduced at passport offices nationwide. Officials believe these reforms will modernize services, reduce corruption risks, and improve convenience for citizens.
