NADRA introduces new feature to track CNIC usage history
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new digital facility aimed at improving identity protection and helping citizens monitor the usage of their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).
Under the new system, citizens can now check where and when their CNIC has been used over the past 10 years through the Pak ID mobile application and online portal.
According to NADRA, the initiative has been launched to protect users from fraud, identity theft and unauthorized use of personal data. The service will be available free of cost for all citizens.
Officials said users can download the Pak ID (Pak Identity) app on their mobile phones and log in to their accounts to access the service. After opening the main menu, users can click on the “Usage History” or “Verification History” option to view records related to their CNIC.
The feature allows citizens to see details of where their identity card was used for services such as bank account openings, SIM card issuance and other verification processes carried out during the last decade.
In addition to the mobile app, citizens can also check their verification history through NADRA’s official Pak ID web portal by logging into their accounts online.
Authorities said SMS verification will also be used for security purposes. Meanwhile, citizens who only want to know how many SIM cards are registered against their CNIC can send their identity card number to 668 through SMS.
The move is expected to improve digital security awareness and help citizens quickly identify suspicious activity linked to their identity records.
