Can a brother verify the application?

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified its rules for young people applying for their first identity card when their parents cannot accompany them.

Speaking in a podcast, NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said that the preferred option for NADRA biometric verification is for either the applicant’s father or mother to be present.

However, the first CNIC process does not stop if both parents are unavailable.

When can a brother help?

According to NADRA, brother biometric verification may be accepted if the brother is listed in the parents’ NADRA family tree and the applicant’s NADRA B-Form is also registered in that family record.

If these conditions are met, the brother can accompany the applicant and help complete the verification process.

This clarification may help young people who have turned 18 but cannot bring either parent to a NADRA office. The authority has explained that NADRA biometric verification can be completed through an eligible family member under the stated conditions.

Can applicants use the Pak ID app?

NADRA also said that applicants who already have a B-Form can submit their first CNIC application through the Pak ID app.

This gives eligible applicants another way to begin the process. However, they should ensure that their family information is correct before submitting the application.

The Pak ID app can be used to submit the application, while the required verification conditions still apply.

What should applicants check?

Before applying, citizens should check that their NADRA family tree details are complete and that the applicant’s B-Form is properly linked to the record.

The NADRA B-Form and family record are important for confirming whether a brother is eligible to accompany the applicant.

NADRA’s clarification means brother biometric verification may be possible, but only when the required family-record conditions are met.

Applicants should also make sure their NADRA B-Form details are accurate before using the Pak ID app.
