Private Schools May Face New Registration Fees Under Proposed Rules

Registration Fees to Be Linked to Monthly Tuition

Under the proposed fee structure, private schools would pay registration fees according to their monthly tuition charges. Schools charging lower tuition fees would pay less, while institutions charging higher fees would face increased registration costs.

The proposed registration fees are as follows:

Schools charging up to Rs1,500 per month would pay Rs10,000.

 Schools charging up to Rs2,500 per month would pay Rs20,000.

Schools charging up to Rs5,000 per month would pay Rs50,000.

Schools charging Rs10,000 per month would pay Rs100,000.

 Schools charging up to Rs20,000 per month would pay Rs200,000.

Schools charging more than Rs20,000 per month would pay Rs1 million.

Registration to Remain Valid for Four Years

According to sources, the proposed rules would make school registration valid for four years after payment of the prescribed fee.

Private schools seeking to renew their registration would be required to pay 50% of the applicable registration fee at the time of renewal.

Cabinet Committee Approval Awaited

The proposed changes are expected to be presented to the cabinet committee for approval. The new registration process and fee structure would be implemented if the proposal receives the necessary approval.

Until then, the proposed fees and registration requirements remain subject to approval.
