All government and private institutions must accept digital ID cards as valid identification, making them fully equivalent to traditional physical ID cards.
Previously, some offices, banks, and other organizations asked citizens to provide a physical ID card or photocopies, despite the digital option being available.
NADRA clarified that this is against the legal framework and stressed that the digital ID card is completely valid under law.
The digital ID card system is designed to make citizen services more efficient while reducing the unnecessary use of photocopies.
It also strengthens personal data protection and prevents misuse of identity information.
NADRA has directed all government departments, banks, and telecom operators to implement these rules immediately.
Citizens who face issues with institutions refusing to accept digital ID cards can file complaints through NADRA’s official complaint system.

This move ensures that digital ID cards can now be used safely across all government and private services, including banking, telecom, and other verification processes.
By giving digital ID cards, the same legal recognition as physical cards, NADRA has made identification processes faster, safer, and more convenient for all Pakistanis.
