ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Monsoon rains have claimed 81 lives and injured 241 people across Pakistan since June 26, as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported widespread damage and urged people to remain alert.

According to the NDMA, nine people were killed and 54 others were injured in rain-related incidents across the country during the past 24 hours. The authority said that between June 26 and July 23, a total of 81 people lost their lives, while 241 others were injured in monsoon-related incidents.

The victims include 35 children, 27 men and 19 women, highlighting the severe human toll of the ongoing monsoon season. Provincial data showed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest death toll, with 47 fatalities, followed by Punjab with 21, Azad Jammu and Kashmir with seven, and Balochistan with six.

Punjab reported the highest number of injuries, with 154, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 70, Balochistan with 15, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with t The NDMA also reported extensive damage to homes, livestock and infrastructure across the country.

Since the start of the monsoon season, 387 houses have been damaged, 207 livestock animals have perished, and around 6.7 kilometres of roads have been affected by flooding and heavy rainfall. The authority has advised people living in low-lying and vulnerable areas to remain vigilant, follow official weather advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
