A case has been registered against 20 protesters who demonstrated on Karachi's Shahrah-e-Faisal against the murder of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali, ARY News reported.

The FIR was registered at Ferozabad police station on behalf of the state. Police said the protesters were booked for blocking the major road during the demonstration.

Heavy police deployment

Authorities have decided that Shahrah-e-Faisal will not be allowed to remain blocked during protests. A heavy police contingent has been deployed at Nursery to prevent further disruption.

Female police personnel are also part of the security deployment.

Police said Shahrah-e-Faisal is blocked for several hours almost every day, creating serious traffic problems and leaving thousands of citizens stuck in long queues.

Judicial commission begins probe

Meanwhile, a judicial commission formed to investigate Mir Raza Ali's death has started its proceedings. The commission has issued notices to relevant parties and summoned his family and their counsel, lawyer Jibran Nasir, on Friday, August 28.

A notice has also been sent to the Sindh government's focal person regarding the proceedings.

Probe to finish within 30 days

The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial, has been directed to complete its investigation within 30 days.

It will examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali's death and investigate all aspects of the case.

Mir Raza Ali's body found

Mir Raza Ali went missing on July 28 after leaving his home in PECHS Block 2. His bullet-riddled body was found the next day in bushes opposite the University of Karachi near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-e-Johar.
