(Web Desk): BISP and World Bank have agreed to make the social protection system more effective by improving operations and monitoring.

The two sides discussed steps to strengthen support for deserving families. A meeting of the World Bank CRISP Review Mission was held under BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid. The participants reviewed key issues and discussed the future plan for improving BISP’s operational system.

Focus on better monitoring

The meeting also discussed creating a stronger and coordinated monitoring system. The aim is to improve the delivery of social protection programmes and make the system more effective.

Senator Rubina Khalid said the National Socio-Economic Registry is an important database for BISP. She stressed that NSER data must remain accurate, secure, updated and of high quality.

Better data for deserving families

Rubina Khalid said reliable data is necessary to identify deserving people effectively. Accurate information can also help ensure that social protection programmes reach eligible families.

She said improving the quality of NSER data would support better decisions and delivery of assistance. The focus is to make the social protection system more organised and responsive.

Skills opportunities for women

The BISP chairperson said creating new skills opportunities for women beneficiaries and their families is a priority. She said helping women gain useful skills can support their economic empowerment.

She added that empowering women through skills development is an important part of a stronger social protection system. The initiative could help beneficiaries move towards greater financial independence.

The planned improvements focus on two important areas: better data and better monitoring. These can help reduce gaps in identifying deserving families and delivering support.

The focus on skills for women is also significant. If training leads to income opportunities, beneficiaries could become less dependent on financial assistance over time.
