(Web Desk): Punjab govt launches strict action against overcharging and black marketing of tickets to protect eid travelers.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a strict crackdown on transporters charging extra fares ahead of Eid, warning of immediate legal action against violators.

The chief minister directed authorities to ensure that passengers are not exploited during the busy travel season, especially those returning home for Eid celebrations. She emphasized that overcharging and ticket black marketing will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Deputy commissioners across all districts have been instructed to closely monitor transport fares and ensure strict implementation of officially notified rates. Continuous field inspections have also been ordered to prevent any malpractice by transport operators.

Maryam Nawaz further directed that fare lists must be prominently displayed at all bus terminals. She also stressed maintaining cleanliness at bus stands and ensuring proper seating arrangements in waiting areas, along with the availability of fans for passengers.

In a relief-oriented step, authorities have also been asked to arrange iftar facilities for fasting passengers so they can break their fast comfortably during travel in Ramazan.

The chief minister made it clear that poor passengers must not be exploited during Eid and that strict action will be taken without delay against those found guilty of overcharging.

Additionally, law enforcement agencies have been directed to keep a close watch on markets and public places to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a peaceful environment during the festive period.
