Landslides shut Lake Saif-ul-Mulook road for tourists

The district administration in Mansehra imposed the ban following fresh landslides along the road. Police said all types of traffic have been suspended as a precaution to protect visitors from further incidents.

Officials said the closure was ordered on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra. The road will be reopened only after weather conditions improve and authorities declare it safe for travel.

A day earlier, a cloudburst triggered a landslide that washed away a section of the Saif-ul-Malook Road, leaving thousands of tourists stranded.

Police, rescue teams and the district administration launched a large-scale rescue operation and safely shifted all stranded tourists to Naran late at night.

Authorities have urged tourists and local residents to avoid unnecessary travel to upper areas until weather conditions improve. They also advised the public to follow official instructions and weather advisories to stay safe.

The temporary closure highlights the growing risks posed by heavy monsoon rains in northern Pakistan, where landslides and flash floods continue to threaten roads, infrastructure and tourist destinations.
